Meet Patrick, The Sweetest Kid I Know.

Patrick is one of the sweetest kids I’ve ever met.  He is 12 years old, and came to live at Shepherd’s Field two years ago. Patrick loves super heroes. His absolute favorite  superhero is from a show called, “Ultraman. His favorite game is to act out an epic Ultraman battle, usually ending up with him as Ultraman destroying the bad guy (whoever he is playing with) and saving the day once again. Though he has paralysis in his right arm and leg, Patrick keeps up just fine with all the other children. In fact, all the other  kids look up to Patrick as their big brother. Patrick does not let his disability define what he can and cannot do. In China, when a kid passes their 14th birthday, they can no longer be adopted. In August, Patrick turns 13 and will only have one more year until he ages out and can never have a family of his own. Please help us to find his forever family by sharing this video. And, also remember that you could be his forever family, too. If you would like to learn more about Patrick, please click here to send me an email. Gabriel Found a Forever Family! Here is How You Help More Orphans Just Like Him.

In China, when a kid turns 14, they can no longer be adopted. This means that they lose the opportunity to ever have a family who loves them. Last September, I made a short video about Gabriel, a 13 year-old orphan who was only 9 months away from turning 14. The video received hundreds of shares and was seen on thousands of newsfeeds. After only a few weeks, a family began the process of adopting Gabriel. Because of the success of Gabriel’s video, I am partnering with Shepherd’s Field Children’s Village, a foster home for special-needs children in China, to advocate for even more orphans. I will make weekly videos advocating for kids just like Gabriel on my YouTube channel and website, NomadNotepad.com. In order to advocate for these children while in China, I need partners just like you. I need to raise $24,000 for my yearly production budget—that’s about $2,000 a month. I’ve already raised over 1/3 of this goal so far.  If I can get 10 more partners to donate $50 a month and 6 more to donate $150 a month, we would hit this goal. We’ve already seen how a video helped Gabriel find his forever family. Please Share this video with your family, friends, and maybe even a stranger. Together, we can help even more orphans find their forever families—one video at a time. If you would like to donate any amount towards this project, please click the link below. The Most Disgusting Thing I’ve Ever Eaten!

Today, I’m going to share with you one of the grossest things I’ve ever eaten! One of my favorite things to do in other countries is try both the favorite foods of the locals–especially foods that us in the West might find strange. In the Peruvian Amazon, I had the opportunity to try something many would probably never consider eating.

Shepherd’s Field: Hope for Special Needs Orphans in China

“In China, many children with special needs are abandoned. Sometimes this is because they are unwanted, but many times it is because the parents simply cannot take care of them. This is why Shepherd’s Field Children’s Village in Tianjin, China was founded—to help these orphans receive the care they need. At Shepherd’s Field, we provide not only for each orphans physical needs, but we also give them love. Each kid becomes part of a family—the Shepherd’s Field family. However, we still have many more wonderful children still in need of forever families.”
