What comes to mind when you think of the Amazon? You might think of the river, the spectacular plants and animals there, or the indigenous people groups living in the forests. You may wonder, just as I did, “how does ministry work in the Amazon?” or “with over a million people living in the Peruvian Amazon, are there any churches?”

As most of you know, I spent the summers of 2009 and 2012 in the Peruvian Amazon working with AMIEL—Pastor William Sifuentes’ ministry. AMIEL is a Spanish acronym meaning “International Missionary Alliance for the Education of Leaders.” Thanks to your generous support, we have been able to supply funding for AMIEL to begin building their seminary and training center in addition to buying soccer uniforms and equipment for their sports ministry.

Adorable kids in Peru!

Very recently, Pastor William has invited me return to Peru during their youth conference at the beginning of February to make a video documenting what God is doing through their ministry in the Amazon. This video will be the start of my mission to tell stories of what God is doing in/through missionaries and ministries through the visual medium of filmmaking.

In addition, I will begin work on a new web-series. The series will be similar in style to your favorite travel shows (such as Bizarre Foods or Globe Trekker), yet have a focus on missions. The series’ primary goals will be to help The Church better interact with, and minister to, people from different cultures—whether in their home community, nationally, or abroad.

Lord willing, I will leave around January 29th, 2014 and return near the beginning of March. The trip will cost about $2,500, which includes airfare, equipment, and in-country costs. I am asking that you join me in this ministry. Will you help by providing a financial gift towards this mission work?

Please subscribe to my blog in order to receive email updates about this and future projects and ministry opportunities. When the videos are completed, they will be available on my blog to watch and share.

I pray that this Amazon project will be an opportunity to begin sharing the stories as a witness to what God is doing through His people. With your help, we will be successful in accomplishing the task of evangelism and discipleship around the world.

Thank you,

Joshua Kaufmann
